About Us
The Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility is a multi-stakeholder and diverse group of experts made up of individual experts and representatives from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society networks, research institutions, and specialised agencies of the United Nations.
Created in 2011, our work is anchored in decision taken by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010 to “enhance understanding and action in the area of climate change induced displacement, migration and planned relocation.”
Our objective is to ensure that human mobility is considered and addressed adequately under the UNFCCC and that the human rights of people on the move are promoted and upheld. To achieve this, we:
-
Provide technical support to Parties to the UNFCCC grounded in human rights, based on the latest knowledge and best practices.
-
Represent civil society on the UNFCCC’s Task Force on Displacement under the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage.
-
Inform evidence-based UNFCCC decisions and actions with the most recent and reliable evidence, findings, and experience.
-
Raise awareness of the impacts of climate change on human mobility.
-
Share the latest information on human mobility under the UNFCCC.
-
Catalyze collaboration and coordination between Advisory Group members, other civil society networks, and UNFCCC constituencies.
We welcome expressions of interest from anyone who wishes to join us. Please fill in the form on this page and we will be in touch. Join our mailing list to receive infrequent updates straight to your inbox.
