Our Impact

We are not just talking about human mobility and climate change. We are changing decision makers' minds and strengthening policy outcomes that support and protect people on the move.

Since 2011 our membership has grown from a small number of technical experts to over 110 members with a diverse range of expertise from policy makers and negotiators, to researchers, lawyers, young climate leaders and climate activists, hailing from over 60 countries.

In the last 3 years alone we have held over 60 meetings, produced 4 sets of key messages and held daily coordination meetings at 6 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) negotiation sessions.

This is what our members have to say:

“Use this space to share reviews from customers about the products or services offered.”

“For those of us who have experienced displacement, climate change is never just an environmental crisis. It is about homes, livelihoods, dignity and the futures of our children. The value of this Advisory Group lies in connecting these human realities with global decision-making. Through APNOR, we want to ensure that communities affected by climate change and displacement are not simply invited to share their stories, but are recognised as leaders with the knowledge, courage and right to shape solutions.”

“The international and interdisciplinary nature of the members, spanning academia, intergovernmental institutions, and operational NGOs is a key asset for knowledge sharing and developing strong common positions. This diversity enables organizations to maximize the impact of their specific expertise and often limited resources, while ensuring their analyses are amplified and widely disseminated.”

It has championed diverse voices—from grassroots practitioners and academics to civil society leaders—and meaningfully engaged with crucial global processes to advance climate justice. Its work has been instrumental in highlighting the rights, vulnerabilities and aspirations of frontline communities, whether they remain in their homelands, are compelled to move, or struggle to rebuild lives in new destinations and beyond.”

“The Climate Mobility Advisory Group fills a critical gap at the intersection of two vast fields. Climate change and migration each present more advocacy opportunities and needs than any single organization can meaningfully pursue alone. By synthesizing knowledge across its members and sharing it collectively, the Advisory Group enables us to advance shared goals rather than working in siloes, and to engage in advocacy spaces we would otherwise lack the capacity to reach.”

“As resources, access, and organizational capacities are perennial challenges for civil society, the Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility provides its diverse members the collective power and presence in multilateral spaces to advocate for impactful policies and practices, directly informed by climate-impacted communities. ”

“The AG fills a critical and otherwise underserved role, building bridges among global advocates on climate mobility to advance a collective advocacy agenda. It provides a vital platform for keeping members current on fast-moving developments, and its joint advocacy carries hearty weight in shaping policy within key UNFCCC processes, strengthening the field's collective voice within key policy moments.”

“The Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility provides a valuable space to bridge scientific knowledge, public policy, and community perspectives. It strengthens collaboration across sectors and regions, helping advance more inclusive, evidence-informed approaches to climate mobility. Its greatest value lies in connecting global policy discussions with the realities of communities experiencing climate-related displacement, while recognizing their knowledge, leadership, and role in shaping solutions.”

“As climate mobility, loss and damage, and related financing mechanisms continue to evolve, the Advisory Group provides a vital space for shared understanding, strategic alignment, and collective influence. For emerging priorities such as age inclusion, the platform offers invaluable intellectual exchange, inspiration, and alliance-building opportunities, enabling stronger collaboration and more effective advocacy.”

Executive Director, An Organization for Socio-Economic Development

“For decades, global leaders have pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support climate-vulnerable countries facing loss and damage. Least developed countries, fragile regions and small island states deserve adequate grant-based compensation, not loans or debt. Developed countries must also share knowledge, information and technology to ensure climate justice and a sustainable future for all.”
